The change of use application seeks retrospective permission to turn The Salutation Inn, fronting the A698 near Berwick, into a permanent residence.
A report submitted on behalf of applicants, Mr and Mrs Nedic, explains: ‘The applicant purchased The Salutation Inn and Caravan Park in 2019, at which point the inn had been vacant for around six months following the previous owner declaring bankruptcy.

‘Following a review of the site operations, the applicant has decided not to try to reopen the public house.
‘In order to avoid the building becoming derelict, the applicant made the decision to keep it in active use by moving the site warden in from an existing caravan. No physical changes have been made to the building beyond minor refurbishments.’
The report also states the permanent removal of the pub will make it a more tranquil environment for users of the caravan park.
