Renovations and repainting completed at Northumberland lighthouse depicted by artist LS Lowry

The distinctive red and white lighthouse has guided seafarers into the River Tweed at Berwick for nearly 200 years.
Unfortunately, the prominent position of the lighthouse means the structure and its paintwork is exposed to the worst that North Sea gales can throw at it.

Hide AdDuring a recent audit of the Lowry Tail boards, Berwick Preservation Trust noticed the stonework of the lighthouse required repointing in many places and that the paintwork was suffering from the ravages of the elements.
Local decorator, Iain Grieve, who had been responsible for the last repainting, was appointed lead contractor and worked on the project along with P J Brown who carried out the specialist pointing work and Berwick Scaffolding Ltd who erected the essential scaffolding.
