Cash boost for festival as schools sign up again

A SPORTS festival for schools has received a cash boost ahead of this year’s event.

Sport England has provided at least £45,000 to each of the local Sainsbury’s School Games Festivals, which are delivered by the Youth Sport Trust.

A host of schools in North Tyneside have already signed up to the Tyne and Wear event, which sees pupils compete in a range of sports competitions from class versus class to school versus school.

Last year, a total of 2,803 young people took part in the festivals across the north east.
