Performance was magical

TYNEMOUTH Operatic Society excelled themselves at the Playhouse Whitley Bay with the magical performance of the musical Annie.

Is car parking the council’s only growth industry?

I WAS annoyed to read the details of the proposals for more car parking spaces on Grand Parade, Tynemouth (News Guardian, February 16).

Bus companies and residents the victims

IF planning consent is granted for a seafront care home at Eastbourne Gardens then it is proposed to remove the bus turning circle and turn some 55 buses per day at the roundabout on Claremont Road.

Just what has changed with this planning application?

I WOULD like to thank Mr Stillaway from West Monkseaton for his letter (News Guardian, February 9) in doing the council’s job in bringing me up to date with the proposed housing development adjacent to the A192 Earsdon Road.

THE excellent wildlife series Bees, Butterflies and Blooms currently showing on BBC2 should be a wake-up call for us all, including our council.

THE figures contained in your front page report (News Guardian, February 2), on the increases in green fees for bowls clubs are worthy of repetition.

I AGREE with your correspondent, Mr Johnson from Cullercoats (News Guardian, January 26) that the use of the word ‘efficiencies’ in relation to the council’s budget is not suitable.

Reluctantly, we had to object to the plan

WE would like to make an observation that last week’s story and headline (News Guardian, January 26, ‘Housing lined up for old training centre site’) may have given the impression that approval for this planning application is a ‘given’.

Thankfully plan was rejected

IN reply to Mr Walls’ letter (News Guardian, January 26), thank goodness North Tyneside Council did reject his road layout proposal.

My thanks to the hospital team

I WOULD like to pass on my thanks to all the staff at North Tyneside General Hospital.

We’ve already elected them!

I READ with interest the article regarding the proposed establishment of trusts to administer council functions, and the resulting need for volunteers to work as trustees (News Guardian, January 26).

Blind society set to benefit from collection

We wish to thank everyone who kindly donated to our festive collections on Wednesday and Thursday in the week before Christmas at Tesco on Norham Road, North Shields, where Santa also appeared in his sleigh.

IN response to the letters ‘Help will make daughter better’ on January 19 and ‘Think before interfering’ on January 12.
