Bringing vibrancy and life to town
THERE are so many talented people in North Tyneside and beyond and the unique performance of Jekyll & Hyde, which was staged at The Theatre in the Park (Hotel) in Tynemouth last week, in conjunction with Culture Quarter, emphasises the great diversity of the Whitley Bay Operatic Society.
The production was a thriller from beginning to end and the principals excelled in quite demanding roles.
It is so good to see our local amateur societies linking up with the enterprising Culture Quarter organisation and bringing vibrancy and life back into Whitley Bay and the coastal area, through their varied and exciting programme of events which have been running in the town for over a year.
The ideas being expanded by CQ are forming a framework for the development of a wide spread of art and culture in its broadest sense for Whitley Bay as the town goes forward with its regeneration.
The opening of the refurbished Playhouse in September, the air of optimism that has been created, to some extent, by our amateur groups of all specialities, linking together and sharing resources and experiences, enables Whitley Bay to start to focus on the future with some surety that our seaside town will attract visitors again and our Playhouse will be at the centre of the ongoing regeneration.
