Follow your own policies

I WAS extremely surprised to read quite aggressive remarks made by the opposition Labour leader Councillor Green in the last issue of the News Guardian (letters, June 11) towards the democratically elected Mayor Mrs Arkley.

I always thought that any winner in a democratic election deserves some respect and perhaps some congratulation. Mrs Arkley is the person who was chosen by the majority of the voters of North Tyneside and their will should be respected.

I sincerely hope that the North Tyneside Mayor Mrs Arkley will certainly not be going "to stick to John Harrison's plans for the next four years" and will successfully implement her own polices, which she clearly stated in her programme. Let us wish our Mayor and her cabinet all the success.
