Youngsters are walking tall with summer festival preparations

TALENTED youngsters have been learning new skills ahead of a performance at this year’s Wallsend Festival.

Around 35 members of Wallsend Young People’s project are being taught talents including costume design, drumming and stilt walking.

And they will be showing what they have learned when they appear as one of the acts at the summer festival.

Since December, they have been meeting every Friday and Saturday between 5pm and 7pm at Wallsend Memorial Hall and People’s Centre, in Frank Street, Wallsend.

Although the sessions are underway, there is a chance for other young people to get involved.

All ages are welcome, although anyone under the age of 11 must be accompanied by an adult.

For more information contact (0191) 263 5029 or turn up to one of the sessions.

The project is being supported by a local area agreement grant from North Tyneside Council.
