AN architect from Cramlington has spent more than a decade designing award winning office buildings at Cobalt Park, North Tyneside, the largest office park in the UK.
Paul Seymour – formerly with Ryder Architecture – has now moved his new company, Seymour Architecture, into the heart of the Cobalt Community.

He has been joined by interior designer Laura Robinson, also previously with Ryder, as an associate. This enables the new company to provide both architectural and interior design services. She has already worked on large-scale fit outs at Cobalt including the recently completed Formica world HQ and AccuRead's (G4S) head office.

Seymour Architecture has taken space in part of the Cobalt Business Exchange that comprises 120,000sq ft (11,148sq m) of serviced office facilities, which includes a conference centre for 100 delegates, meeting and presentation rooms.

"It is really rewarding to be able to enjoy the environment that we have been creating for others over the last ten years, with a good quality of both daylight and natural ventilation and views over a landscaped parkland setting.

"From the other side of the building we can view all of the buildings I have been responsible for," said Mr Seymour.

They include an office for Newcastle Building Society that recently won a top British Council for Offices award for creating a "delightful and productive place to work".

Mr Seymour says his new company will combine both architectural and design services at Cobalt, supported by an ongoing relationship with Ryder.

"When a prospective occupier is interested in taking space we will work with them to plan and design the space required and produce a computer generated 3D model and walk through – including the proposed interior finishes," he said.

Seymour Architecture will continue to design buildings at Cobalt and is currently working on a new masterplan for the south of the office park. "We are looking to further enhance the layout and facilities at Cobalt which has always focused on creating a community that includes the provision of green travel plans, superb landscaping and external amenity and a full range of support facilities for occupiers."

Guy Marsden, director, Highbridge Business Park Limited, developers of Cobalt said: "We have been very pleased to work with Paul Seymour and Ryder over the years as they continually seek to improve the quality and design of what is on offer at Cobalt, keeping it in the forefront of office parks in the UK and Europe"
