VOLUNTEERS from as far away as Belarus will come together tomorrow (Friday) to help clean up Tynemouth Long Sands beach.
The international volunteers will join local young people to take part in the initiative.

Co-ordinated by North Tyneside VODA's Volunteer Centre, the fourth annual 'High Tidy' event will see teenagers from the Chernobyl Continuity Project join volunteers from the Prince's Trust, YMCA and VODA itself in a big litter pick-up on the Blue Flag beach.

The events, which take place between 10am and 3pm, will also include a fish and chips lunch, followed by fun beach games.

Youth volunteer advisor Gary Brunskill said: "High Tidy is a great way of looking after the local environment.

"We want to keep Long Sands beach at its Blue Flag best.

"This is a great chance for young people in the community and beyond to get involved and have fun along the way."
