ELECTED mayors from across the country were given an insight into how North Tyneside Council works closer with its communities.
North Tyneside Mayor John Harrison and chief executive Andrew Kerr hosted the visit earlier this week, showing them around the new headquarters at Quadrant and meeting local people.

The event was organised by the new Local Government Network's Mayoral Forum, which supports the country's elected mayors.

Delegates visited the Linskill Centre in North Shields where they met local people who formed the Linskill and North Tyneside Community Development Trust.

Mr Harrison said: "I'm particularly pleased that we've got the opportunity to demonstrate how we're working closer with our communities and giving local people the opportunity to shape what happens in their local area."

Councils represented included Mansfield District, Bedford Borough, Hartlepool, Stoke-on-Trent City, Torbay and London Borough of Newham.
