A FOUR-year-old has become the first winner of a borough-wide library competition.
Katie Young has been presented with a digital camera as her prize in the 'More Chances to Win' competition being run by North Tyneside Libraries'.

The promotion gives any library member the chance to win a prize every time they visit the library, or ask one of their friends to join, while non-members can also be in with a chance of winning by joining a library.

Katie and her family are regular visitors to Longbenton library, and on her last visit she received her prize winning scratchcard by taking out her usual number of books.

Her father Bob said: "Katie is delighted with her camera – I don't think the rest of us will get a chance to use it."

There are nine more gold prizes up for grabs before the end of May, including a digital camera, DVD recorder and Nintendo DS.
