RESIDENTS are to be given the chance to have their say on further improvements of their neighbourhoods and council services.
A series of 'Area Futures' events will be held throughout the borough, with the views of those attending helping to shape plans – ranging from the future regeneration to the way council services deliver cleaner and greener neighbourhoods.

Residents will also be able to give their views on two key projects – the introduction of Decent Neighbourhood Standards and the future of the borough's culture and leisure services.

The events are:

  • South East Area Futures Event, Saturday, September 6, the Parks, Howdon Road, North Shields, 10.30am to 1.30pm

  • South West Area Futures, Tuesday, September 9, Burnside School, St Peter's Road, Wallsend, 5pm to 8pm

  • North West Area Futures, Wednesday, September 10, John Willie Sams Centre, Market Street, Dudley, 5pm to 8pm

  • North East Area Futures, Wednesday, September 17, Shiremoor Primary School, Stanton Road, Shiremoor, 5pm to 8pm

Coun Carole Gambling, cabinet member for 'closing the gap', said: "The feedback we receive from the public at the events will help shape the decisions taken by the council, ranging from how we spend money in the local community, to the future of our culture and leisure services."

There will be other activities at the events, including arts and crafts, story-telling, dancing and sports activities, health checks, adult learning and refreshments.

Childcare and transport can be provided, but must be pre-booked.
