Police appeal after man is assaulted in bar

POLICE are appealing for a witnesses to come forward after an assault in Whitley Bay back in January.
The unprovoked attack happened in Banana Joes in South Parade on January 19 at around 9.40pm.

The victim, who had been celebrating his birthday, was attacked from behind and punched in the head, resulting in serious lacerations from a glass he was drinking from.

The police are urgently seeking the identity of a man who ran away from the scene.

He is described as white, in his mid 20s, 5ft 8in tall, of slim build and with mousy brushed back hair.

Anyone who has any information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 and the caller may be entitled to a cash reward.
