MORE than £1,200 will be shared between two local causes after a fundraising cruise was held down the river Tyne by the chairman of North Tyneside Council.
Chairman of the Council, Coun Ian Macaulay and his consort, wife Julia, hosted 105 guests last Thursday for a river Tyne cruise in aid of the Children's Cancer Unit at Newcastle's RVI and Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade.

The River Escapes boat travelled under the Millennium Bridge before heading towards the river mouth.

Civic representatives from councils across the north east were in attendance.

Money was raised through ticket sales and an on-board raffle.
