AN end of school holidays celebration is aiming to be a blast.

Shiremoor Adventure Playground, in Brenkley Avenue, is hosting its annual ‘Blasting out of Summer’ family fun event on Saturday, September 1, from noon to 7pm.

A number of family activities are lined up including street games, disco and karaoke, face painting, inflatable castles, a barbecue, children’s entertainers, free-running, dance displays and various stalls.

An American Indian-themed area will also feature tee-pees and ‘fire play’.

Entry is 50p per child and £1 for an adult.

The event has been largely funded by children and parents from the Shiremoor area, who have managed to raise £2,500 through events and sponsorship, including an eight mile bike ride.

This will be the third ‘Blasting out of Summer’ event staged at the playground.

The event is led by the Shiremoor community, in partnership with North Tyneside Council and Northumberland Clubs for Young People.
