Bombay Bicycle Club offer fantastic set
BOMBAY Bicycle Club may not be a household name, but it probably won't be long until it is.
Combining thrashy rock with indie pop and adding their masterful lyrics, they supplied their fans with a fantastically performed set when they performed at Newcastle University on Friday, April 17.
Formed when they were just 15, the band show no signs of naivety or young nerves.
The natural quiver in singer Jack Steadman's voice is what helps establish their unique sound, and their quick tempo and fast rhythm make it impossible to stand still.
As soon as the set began with Always Was, the crowd couldn't resist the temptation to dance.
Reminiscent of Joy Division, Bombay Bicycle Club are one band to watch.
The energy of their performance was incredible, and the band delivered fan favourites such as Open House and Sixteen perfectly.
Each song provided the crowd with catchy riffs, with an influence from The Strokes.
After playing the opening act at the V Festival in 2006, Bombay Bicycle Club have been named by NME as the "hottest band to come from North London in quite some time" and in this gig they lived up to their reputation.
Bombay Bicycle Club's new album I Had The Blues But Shook Them Loose is released in July 2009.
