Chris’s film is top notch

A FILM about Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB) earned a young film maker from Whitley Bay the top prize in one of the region’s leading photography and film awards.

The Port of Tyne’s Reflect Awards saw almost 1,300 people and 4,000 photos and films entered, leaving judges a difficult decision in selecting the winners.

Academy Award-winning film producer, Sunderland-born David Parfitt, judged the over-16s film category and chose 21-year-old Chris Ainsley’s entry featuring the TVLB as the outright winner.

David said: “It was a privilege to be a judge and I was very impressed with film techniques that had been used, many of the films entered are of commercial standard.”

The Reflect Awards finalists’ exhibition will be on display in Level 2 at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art until January 31 before going on tour at north east venues.
