Festival will overflow with real ales

Have your say

AN ANNUAL beer festival is preparing for this year’s event – with even more selection for punters.

Tynemouth Beer Festival will take place at Tynemouth Cricket Club from Thursday, September 13, and Saturday, September 15.

Visitors will have a selection of 80 real ales from breweries around the country.

And for the first time there will be a local feel after breweries Cullercoats and Gundog were invited to attend after being omitted from Newcastle Beer Festival.

A Tynemouth Beer Festival spokesperson said: “In the spirit of the RNLI linking Cullercoats and Tynemouth, we have decided to break our usual custom of not having beers from local breweries, and have asked both breweries to showcase their beers at this year’s festival.”

Cullercoats Brewery will be displaying their two usual beers, Lovely Nelly and Jack the Devil, with 3p of every pint sold being donated to Cullercoats RNLI.

Although the festival’s chosen charity is The Children’s Foundation, organisers will also be donating 3p for every pint sold, donating £50 if beers are finished off.

Money raised at the event will help raise funds to improve facilities at Tynemouth Cricket Club and Percy Park Rugby Club.

Sponsorship of some beers and ciders is still available. For more information contact organiser Steve Mordue on 07886 028020 or visit www.tynemouthbeerfestival.co.uk
