The winner of a festival for young people in the borough, will have the chance to play at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
Playing alongside Brit-award winner James Morrison and following in the footsteps of international artists such as Beverley Knight, The Wanted and The Script, the winning band of the Event @Segedunum will perform on the Sunday afternoon.
Now in its third year, the Event @ Segedunum is a unique outdoor music festival for the borough’s 11 to 19-year-olds, showcasing some of North Tyneside’s best young bands and singers.
It is being held on Saturday, July 6, in the historic grounds of Segedunum Roman Fort in Wallsend.
And on the day, young gig-goers will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite band who will then go on to play at the Mouth of the Tyne festival the following weekend.
North Tyneside’s Young Mayor, Isaac Sidney said: “Playing at the Mouth of the Tyne Festival, attended by thousands of people, is an amazing prize and will provide the winning band of the Event @ Segedunum with a great platform to showcase its material.
“The quality of all 13 of this year’s bands is extremely high and the competition will be tough.”
