A NORTH Shields pub is hosting a celebratory party to mark its first anniversary under its new name. Bar 100, formerly Ye Olde Hundred, is holding the event on Saturday.
The pub, based in Church Way, North Shields, will see the celebrations go into 1.30am the following day – a year to the day since it was relaunched.
Owner Kevin McKeith said: “I was looking for a career change and had not long moved into North Shields when I saw the pub was up for let.”
Despite celebrating Bar 100’s first anniversary this weekend, the pub has an intriguing history and was originally two pubs.
Robert Potts had the Victoria Inn which stood at number 100 Church Way, and his sister owned the Angel Inn in Albion Road, before they merged in 1895 to become the Old Hundred Inn.
