REVIEW: Tim Vine at the Playhouse Whitley Bay

Tim Vine should be knackered today.

It was exhausting watching him at the Playhouse Whitley Bay last night for his Tim Timinee Tim Timinee Tim Tim To You tour, and my face hurt from laughing by the end of it.

The comedian has been away for four years and was back with a bang with his latest tour, which was a manic, full throttle, energetic trip down a pun highway.

Not surprisingly it was a sold out affair, and the pun-slinger was on top form covering everything from chimney jokes, to chicken puns, and visual one-liners that had the audience in stitches.

Packed with new jokes, silly songs – including one about getting water in your ear after you’ve been swimming, and twitchy dancing, there was no let up in what proved to be a fantastic show.

He even recapped his jokes when one unlucky punter returned from the toilet.

He may have been away from the tour circuit for four years, but he has been busy crafting some very funny material (and perfecting his unique dance style) in that time.

Oh - and he didn’t disappoint with the pen behind the ear trick, either.

Support act John Archer is most certainly worthy of a mention too, as his blend of comedy and magic worked wonders on getting the audience more than warmed up.

He was sincere, entertaining and more than a little clever.

Tim Vine is on tour across the country until June.
