Sixth form students wow the professionals

A young film director has been earning rave reviews after her latest work was shown in Newcastle.

Anna Geddes, a student at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Shields, received excellent reviews from her media teacher about a film she recently directed which was screened at the Tyneside Cinema.

The 16-year-old, from North Shields, undertook the role of assistant director in the production of a film ‘The Cullercoats Fishlass’ which was screened last month.

The film, written, directed and produced by 150 youngsters from ACT 2 CAM Ltd, an acting school and production company dedicated to giving young people skills and experience in film, will be turned into an educational film to be used in schools.

Sixteen-year-old Anna, who had taken other roles in short films that the company had produced, said: “I knew that the assistant director role would mean that I would have to totally commit myself to the project but I was excited about gaining the hands on experience and I am now delighted that I put myself forward.

“We are thrilled with the positive reviews.”
