TO celebrate 100 years since Whitley Bay Operatic Society’s first performance, the Playhouse Whitley Bay is offering the chance to win free tickets to the latest show.
Although the show is often produced on the West End and Broadway, the musical Sweet Charity is best known for a very successful film version starring Shirley MacLaine as Charity and Sammy Davis Jr as Daddy.
The show tells the story of unlucky in love Charity Hope Valentine, a dance hall hostess who always gives her heart and dreams to the wrong man.
This happening show is set in the heart of New York and features an outstandingly jazzy score with hit numbers including Hey Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and The Rhythm of Life.
The Playhouse is offering three pairs of tickets to lucky News Guardian readers.
To be in with a chance of winning, answer the following question correctly and return your answer as well as name, address and contact number by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday, March 2.
Which actress starred as Charity in the film version of Sweet Charity? a) Judy Garland; b) Liza Minnelli; or c) Shirley MacLaine?
The first three correct answers drawn at random will win.
