ST ANDREW’S Church, Monkseaton, was buzzing like the ‘busy bees’ that were the theme of the Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday in the church in Eastfield Avenue.
The service was led by church members, dressed as bees, and the children of junior church plus the uniformed organisations, which are part of the church family, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows, Brownies and Guides and parents enjoyed a Harvest Festival with a difference. The church had been decorated by St Andrew’s Flower Committee in seasonal flowers, foliage and berries and pictures of bees hung on the pillars.
The service and the work of bees in our natural world were linked into the Bible and creation. The People’s Kitchen, Newcastle will benefit from the donated foodstuffs with cash donations going to Self Help Africa
The whole congregation enjoyed coffee and cakes after the service and the flowers and floral arrangements were distributed to church members.
A very memorable and enjoyable Harvest Thanksgiving.
