Police have dropped their investigation into an alleged robbery of a teenager after finding no incident took place.
A 17-year-old male youth said he was approached from behind by a man who threatened him with a knife and demanded cash while walking on Station Approach, Benton, between 9.40pm and 10pm on Monday.
The teenager told officers he handed over an amount of cash and the offender made off unseen.
However, a police spokesperson said: “Police have fully investigated the report and it has been established the teenager was not robbed.
“The allegation has been withdrawn and police are no longer investigating the incident.”
