STUDENTS taking part in the Prince’s Trust Programme at TyneMet College were praised for their work landscaping two allotments in Chirton.

As part of a community project on the programme, a group of 14 youngsters worked on the dilapidated area on behalf of Chirton Community Allotment.

Over a two week period they cleared the area, built new flower beds, restored planters and put down paving.

Kev Black, course leader, said: “The end result was fantastic and the students were proud of their achievements.”
