Pupils have been enjoying dance and music workshops, thanks to American visitors.

The highly-acclaimed Young Americans returned to Kings Priory School, in Tynemouth, to deliver another three days of professional-standard workshops to more than 200 pupils.

The experience offered pupils of all abilities and talents an opportunity to perform in front of a sell-out crowd.

Alec Hudson, from Indiana, part of the Young Americans, said: “It has given me a chance to express myself and now I want to do the same for other people.”

They delivered professional standard drama, dance and music workshops and their enthusiasm and commitment ensured that all pupils were inspired to perform and grow in both skills and confidence.

The programme culminated in a sell-out spectacular performance, with staff, parents and families invited to witness what the pupils had achieved in such a short space of time.

Participant Josie commented: “It’s very energetic and enjoyable to do. The speed at which they get us all to learn is remarkable.”

Year 7 participants, Anja, Evie, Maddie, Lili and Daisy, said: “You don’t have to be over-confident and with the Young Americans, perfection isn’t everything.

“The awesome thing about this group is that you don’t have to have been in the spotlight all of your life to perform.”

“We love them because of their ability to involve people of all ages and genders.

“The Young Americans really make you think about how much we can actually do and how amazing our bodies are.”
