Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident at a bus stop.

A man, who was carrying a pizza box and some chips, was at a bus shelter near to the Anson Pub, in Station Road, Wallsend.

He was then approached by a man and an altercation took place.

A short time later a silver car stopped at the bus stop and there was a disturbance involving several men in the car and the man with the pizza box.

The vehicle then drove off down Station Road at speed and turned right onto High Street West.

The man with the pizza box at the bus stop is described as a white man, approximately 20 years old, 5ft 8ins tall, slim build wearing dark clothing.

Police are carrying out enquiries in order to establish what has happened.

There were other men at the bus stop who were having a cigarette when this incident occurred – at around 8.20pm on Thursday, November 12 - and police are appealing for them to come forward as they may have seen what happened.

A police spokesperson said: “At this stage it is not clear if any offences have taken place.”
