AS a local Marie Curie nurse, I am calling on News Guardian readers to sign up and ‘Walk Ten’ for Marie Curie Cancer Care at Gibside on September 1.
Walk Ten is a series of unique 10k summer evening walks and celebrations taking place at 25 beautiful venues across the UK, sponsored by home emergency insurer HomeServe.
It costs £10 to register in advance and everyone is asked to raise as much as they can to support Marie Curie Cancer Care.
All the funds raised from Walk Ten will help Marie Curie Nurses like me to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in the Marie Curie Hospice Newcastle and in their own homes in the north east.
At the end of the walk, there will be picnics, music and fireworks for everyone to enjoy with friends and family long into the summer evening to celebrate the work of Marie Curie nurses.
Walk Ten at Gibside will be a magical occasion and I hope many people can come along to enjoy it.
To register for Walk Ten, or for more information, go to www.mariecurie.org.uk/walkten or call 08700 340 040.
