I WOULD greatly appreciate the opportunity to thank the customers at Netto in Wallsend and everyone at the Linskill Centre in North Shields for their generous contributions to The Rotary Club of Monkseaton Centenary’s tombola and tabletop sales last week.
The events produced a wonderful total of £670 that will be donated to the Children’s Cancer Fund and Target Ovarian Cancer.
The latter is the latest addition to the club’s Cancer Care Project and I am delighted that members have chosen this charity for inclusion.
Target Ovarian Cancer is dedicated to achieving a long and good life for every woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer in the United Kingdom, and working to improve diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
I would also like to thank the management and staff at Netto and the Linskill Centre for their usual help and co-operation that we are always extremely grateful for.
In the current difficult financial circumstances, when commercial concerns are having to reduce their support for charities, it is extremely important that voluntary organisations redouble their efforts to help worthwhile causes to continue their work.
This is only possible with the generous help of members of the general public.
