AN art exhibition held in memory of a North Tyneside artist has raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Tony Regnart organised the event as a tribute to his late wife Julie, who lost her battle with cancer last January ten years after initially beating the disease.
He put more than 100 pieces of her work on display at Preston Grange Community Centre in North Shields, with some available for sale.
Included in the exhibition were drawings, paintings and etchings Julie produced during various trips around England and abroad.
The show raised more than £3,300 for Cancer Research UK, and 48 paintings were sold.
He said: “It is sad that the exhibition had to be in these circumstances. I felt that Julie should have been there to see how much people appreciated her talent. However, I know she would be proud to see all her pictures on display.”
