Whitley Bay Rotary Club held a Christmas Tree Colouring Competition while hosting Santa in Whitley Bay’s Park View Shopping Centre in the run up to Christmas.

Children put their colouring skills to the test while waiting to see Santa, with more than 70 entries submitted.

And after a difficult task, judges picked seven-year-old Eva Yeoman, from Monkseaton, as the winner – receiving a family ticket to see the Sleeping Beauty pantomime at Playhouse Whitley Bay.

Eva said: “I am very excited about winning and I’m looking forward to going to the pantomime with my brother Henry and family.”

Tore Skjærstad, Rotary chairman, said: “This year’s Christmas Rotary collection has been very successful.

“We had lots of visitors and many excellent entries for the competition and I am delighted to say that we have raised over £1,700, all of which will go to worthy charities.”

‘All Rotarians would like to express there thanks to everyone who visited Santa and to all those who gave so generously over the Christmas period to help others lass fortunate than themselves. We all whish you the very best for 2016.”
