A scheme helping residents save money on their household energy bills is returning.

North Tyneside Council is again supporting the Big Community Switch initiative, run by iChoosr to bring customers together to negotiate a better energy deal.

Coun John Stirling, cabinet member for sustainable development, said: “I’m really pleased we’ve teamed up with iChoosr again – the savings we made for our residents last time far exceeded our expectations.

“With more and more people struggling to afford energy bills and living in fuel poverty, such schemes are becoming increasingly important.

“By joining a group auction, iChoosr can hopefully secure a much better deal for gas and electricity – the more people who join, the better deal you’re offered. There’s no obligation to take out the deal once it’s offered, so you’ve really got nothing to lose.”

The auction takes place on Tuesday, February 3, but anyone interested must register by February 2. To register search ‘energy’ at www.northtyneside.gov.uk or call 0345 2000 101.
