Authors will give talks to mark World Book Day

BOOKLOVERS are being encouraged to pick up a new book during two special events and a free book giveaway.

To mark World Book Night, on Monday, April 23, Wallsend Library will be giving away a selection of popular titled including The Player of Games, The Time Travellers Wife, and Touching the Void.

Attendees will be greeted with free canapés, courtesy of a donation from Wallsend Memorial Hall and People’s Centre.

The library will also welcome crime writer Cath Staincliffe on the night, who will be chatting about her novels, particularly her forthcoming book Split Second.

The event starts at 7pm and will be held at Wallsend Library, Ferndale Avenue, Wallsend.

The event is free but places are limited, and can be booked by contacting Wallsend Library on (0191) 643 2075.

Elsewhere, local novelist Benita Brown will be at Whitley Bay Library on Thursday, April 19, at 2.30pm to chat about her latest novel I’ll Be Seeing You.

Tickets for the event cost £1.50.
