A WHITLEY BAY-born author Barry Stone has completed the second book of his trilogy The Winston Tails.
Winston and the Canny Lass is the sequel to his first novel, Barking at Winston, and continues the story of a dysfunctional post-war family, told from the perspective of their rescue dog Brucie.
The latest book follows the journey of a young woman who, in light of her parents’ violent relationship, must learn to trust others.
And this time Barry, who lives in Holywell, asked his friend, Blyth-born cartoonist for The Times, David Haldane, to design the front cover.
“I’m hoping that people everywhere will be eager to read the sequel,” Barry said.
“Certainly if the book is to be judged by David’s wonderful cover, then it should get off to a flying start.”
Winston and the Canny Lass is published by Berry Press and will shortly receive its regional launch at Waterstones in Newcastle.
