STAFF at a local bed company have been doing ‘something funny for money’ to raise money for Comic Relief.
Palatine Beds’ factory workers, shop and office staff from all over the borough made a small donation each to wear their pyjamas to work and dressed up as a human mattress and pillow.
The factory shop and office staff sold beds and mattresses in their pyjamas and dressing gowns all day to raise money for comic relief.
The bed company is hoping to raise over £500 for Red Nose Day, and the fundraising continues as shop staff will still be in fancy dress raising money on Saturday, March 19.
Palatine Beds sales and customer service coordinator Ron Stobbart and sales and marketing coordinator Antonia Dimambro dressed up as a human mattress and a human pillow to help raise the cash.
Antonia said: “The costumes were large and quite difficult to manoeuvre, but they were a big hit with the people of Newcastle, a lot of people said they’d seen lots of costumes today, but no other human mattresses or pillows.
“We would like to thank all the people who made a donation to the human mattress and pillow in town and donated to staff dressed up in pyjamas in the factory shop.
“We would also like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Palatine Beds for their hard work and enthusiasm without them the fundraising event wouldn’t have been possible.”
