IN North Shields, students at St Thomas More High School celebrated their best GCSE results ever.
Sixty-nine per cent of students achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths.
Overall, 93 per cent of students achieved five or more A*-C grades, and 21 per cent of all grades were graded the highest A* or A mark.
A total of 21 students achieved ten or more A* or A grades including two students with 11 A* grades each and one with ten A* grades.
Headteacher Di Donkin said: “I am delighted with these achievements as they signify the ability and hard work of a truly wonderful group of young people.
“I am also delighted for the staff who provide outstanding teaching and support for our students.”
