A rough night for charity supporters may make life a little smoother for vulnerable youngsters after raising valuable funds.
More than 70 people took part in YMCA North Tyneside’s Sleep Easy event earlier this year, sleeping out in St Cuthbert’s Church car park in North Shields to highlight the issue of youth homelessness.
The group included members of North Tyneside Council, Norham High School teachers and students from Excelsior Academy in Newcastle, while The Fat Hippo provided burgers and chips.
Now organisers have revealed that it raised £5,507 for local supported housing projects at Sir James Knott House and Community House.
And a second Sleep Easy event is being planned.
