Police are appealing for information after a bogus caller took money from a property after offering to carry out gardening work.
Northumbria Police received a report last week that a man had called at an address in Grange Park, in Whitley Bay, and offered to cut the occupant’s trees.
The man then returned a few days later, during which he was invited into the home by the occupant.
But when the man left, the home owner noticed that some money was missing from a bag.
Police are now appealing for any information about the incident.
The offender is described as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build, with short brown hair and clean shaven.
He was wearing a green jacket and black trousers and spoke with a welsh accent.
His vehicle was a green pickup truck with ladders on the back.
Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and asking any witnesses to contact them.
Any witnesses should contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 507 240415 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
