I READ recently of the possibility of a number of bowling clubs in North Tyneside facing difficulties paying their bowling green maintenance fees if North Tyneside Council decides to go ahead with the mooted increase in weekly charges (News Guardian, February 2).
It was stated in the article that some groups may be forced to fold if this went ahead.
I sincerely hope this happens to none of them but in the highly undesirable eventuality that anyone finds themselves in the position of being unable to play bowls for whatever reason, may I extend an open invitation to anyone to come and join our indoor carpet bowls clubs at Cullercoats Community Centre in Belle Vue Street, Cullercoats, which run on a Tuesday morning from 10am and Wednesday evenings from 6pm (both two hour sessions).
We have plenty of capacity for new players and always welcome new members.
We are also looking for good movers (single or couples – all welcome) to try our sequence dance sessions on Friday afternoon at the centre (1.30pm until 3pm).
Bowlers or dancers, please just turn up on the day and we will make you very welcome with tea and biscuits.
MRS SYBIL HOWARD
President of Cullercoats Community Association Bowls Section
