Staff at a building society have raised nearly £2,000 for charity.

Colleagues at Leeds Building Society branches helped raise £1,750 in 2015 for the Guide Dogs charity.

A host of fundraising events, raffles, cake sales and coffee mornings were held, with each of the branches selling Guide Dogs pin badges throughout the year.

The culmination of National Guide Dogs Week in October saw the Wallsend branch team hold a fundraising night at the Prince of Wales pub in Blyth.

Pippa Turner, from Guide Dogs in the North East, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our local Leeds Building Society branches chose to support Guide Dogs this year.

“It costs us almost £50,000 to support each guide dog partnership and Guide Dogs don’t receive any Government funding for the service.

“Without the generosity of the local public and business community we wouldn’t be able to provide our life-changing mobility services to people in the north east suffering from sight loss.”
