Brownies from North Tyneside have celebrated 100 years of Girlguiding with some special friends.

Disney on Ice celebrates ‘100 Years of Magic’ this year and is helping the 1st Rising Sun Brownies division of GirlGuiding UK celebrate 100 years in 2014 in style.

The 32-strong group, based in North Tyneside, has undertaken a promise to carry out 100 good turns to help out around the home and in their local community, enabling each member to achieve a ‘Good Turn’ badge.

And as this year Disney on Ice is also celebrating, it has recognised their good turns and commitment to GirlGuiding by offering a special VIP experience.

A total of 96 brownies from 1st Rising Sun with 4th Killingworth Rainbows and 2nd Killingworth Guides attended the show at the Metro Radio Arena.

Brown owl Joanne Hogg, who has recently been appointed county commissioner for the Girlguiding North Tyneside, said: “This has been an amazing year for girlguiding, and as part of this year we wanted to do something extra special to help others in the community.

“This is the perfect way to celebrate our birthday.”
