BURGLARS stole a motorbike from a house in Wallsend and tried to take a car too.

The thieves got into the house, in Aysgarth Avenue, just after 3am on Tuesday and stole a Blackberry Curve mobile phone and white leather motorcycle gloves.

They also picked up keys for a garage and used them to steal a motorbike inside.

The thieves later returned to the house and attempted to steal a Volkswagen Polo parked on the drive.

The householders heard the car’s doors opening, however, and went to investigate, catching two teenagers in the act of trying to coast the car off the drive.

After being disturbed, the thieves crashed the VW into a parked Audi, damaging the other car’s bumper, and ran off down Lancaster Drive.

The thieves were wearing dark hoodies, grey bottoms and black trainers.

The stolen motorcycle is a blue Suzuki Bandit with the registration No T23 7SSX.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 ext 69191.
