AN ENTREPRENEUR from North Shields and her business partner are waiting to find out if they have won a top award.

Sam Taylor and Suzanne Hutton, from Gateshead, set up Be.Art to create inspiring and innovative art environments for businesses and properties.

And they have just been rallying support after being shortlisted in the Grand Ideas Shell Live Wire Award.

Be.Art uses a database of artists and designers to provide high quality, contemporary art works which businesses can buy or hire.

Suzanne said: “Be.Art is different to anything we’ve worked on before as it focuses on the private sector, targeting businesses such as hoteliers, spas, restaurants and conference rooms who are looking to stand out from competitors.”

Sam added: “There is lots of evidence to show that the way a place looks or feels can affect its user such as increasing staff productivity, increasing customer average spend and association with higher aspirations and luxury.”

People have until midnight on March 1 to vote for Be.Art at www.shell-livewire.org/my-business-kit

If they win the award, they will receive £1,000 which they plan to spend on a marketing campaign and commission of an artist or designer.
