The best of the borough’s businesses have been recognised in this year’s North Tyneside Business Awards.

The annual awards, managed by the North Tyneside Business Forum, saw more than 200 leading figures from the region’s business community attend the Village Hotel on Silverlink North. And it was the Owen Pugh Group who won the coveted ‘North Tyneside Business of the Year Award’ with the Dudley-based firm also winning the ‘Construction Business Award’ category.

Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “The awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the huge contribution that businesses in North Tyneside make to regeneration and the local economy.

“Owen Pugh Group have been established in North Tyneside for over 70 years, and during this time they’ve made a significant commitment to the borough and its people.”

John Dickson, chairman of the Owen Pugh Group, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised.

“This recognition is true testament to the hard work of the 400 strong team, whose commitment and hard work has made the company the success it is today.”

A new Special Contribution Award for the business which has made the biggest contribution to the life, economy and reputation of North Tyneside was given to Greggs, who operate from Balliol Business Park.
