Business friendships have been forged with fencing for two North Tyneside firms.

Civil engineering outfit the Owen Pugh Group has struck a deal with IT solutions provider Perfect Image, which will manage its computer services and software.

And to cement the partnership, 11 staff from the two businesses took part in a duel at Newcastle Fencing Centre.

Under the guidance of head coach Iain Aberdeen, they were given one-to-one tuition at the Benfield Business Park facility, before taking part in a friendly competition.

Owen Pugh chairman and managing director John Dickson said: “The Olympic sport of fencing requires focus, strategy and tactics, all vital skills in the business world, so what better way to mark Owen Pugh’s partnership with Perfect Image than to get to know each other better with a friendly competition at the fantastic Newcastle Fencing Centre.

“The teams had a fun afternoon and came away feeling motivated and ready for business.”

Owen Pugh employs more than 400 staff across five sites in the north east, with its head office in Dudley.

It has signed a three-year deal with Cobalt Business Park based Perfect Image to provide a complete IT service across the group, including strategic software planning and day-to-day management of its PCs and networks.
