Shoppers are being invited to have a butchers at a new shop which has created several jobs in Whitley Bay.

Dicksons has thrown open the doors to their first shop in the town, which is on the site of the former Belverdere Pork Shop.

The shop, in Whitley Road, is also the first in a series of new look concept stores which will be rolled out in selected shops, featuring a relaxed seating area.

Elena Dickson, marketing director, said: “Opening a shop in Whitley Bay has very much been part of our plans for some time now however we needed the right location.

“When the opportunity arose to move into the former Belvedere Pork Shop, it made perfect sense and we are looking forward to continuing its years of pork butchery heritage, bringing our tasty product range to the town.”

She added: “Whitley Bay marks a key stage in our development plans; not only are we entering a new territory, but we are looking at how our products can evolve to meet customer demands.

“Our shops embrace the traditional pork butcher and we are seeing customers once again choosing to seek out these more artisan and speciality retailers.”
