Growth in both size and sales

A FAST-growing North Shields business which manufactures and sells hydraulic systems is celebrating after expanding its premises and adding new staff.

Quick Hydraulics has unveiled a newly-extended facility at its base on New York Industrial Park after coaching from business growth service, GrowthAccelerator, helped the company add ten new jobs and achieve £3m in sales.

Quick Hydraulics managing director Andrew Esson bought the engineering firm in 2011 and decided to develop the company’s marketing strategy in order to expand its customer base.

Last year the business signed up to GrowthAccelerator, which links it to business experts who in turn provide tailored advice and support to help the company achieve its growth potential.

This allowed the firm to focus on improving sales, bringing in professional sales coaches to help develop staff skills, leading to it breaking the £3m sales barrier for the first time.

The business is also benefitting from funding for staff training, with GrowthAccelerator matching pound for pound the investment Quick Hydraulics makes in developing its workforce, up to £2,000 per senior manager.

Mr Esson said: “We want to establish Quick Hydraulics as a leader in its field, and become the definitive hydraulics experts in the north of England, and refocusing our efforts with a new business and sales strategy has certainly put us on the right track.

“The coaching from GrowthAccelerator has really helped to address barriers in the business and let us establish a clear path for growth.”
