A new gym is hoping to score an early success after opening its doors.
Xercise4Less has created more than 40 new jobs after opening a £1m state-of-the-art gym in Royal Quays.
And staff were joined by North Shields FC manager Graham Fenton and players Dean Holmes and captain Kev Hughes for the official opening.
Gym manager Simon Sheridan said: “We’re amazed with the welcome the gym has received from the local community and attendance at the opening.
“Everyone had a great time. The response we’ve had so far from the people of North Shields has been fantastic so I hope that continues for many years to come.”
The opening featured a range of activities, including a bouncy castle, a bob the apple game, a rodeo challenge, music with a live DJ, popcorn machine, candy floss giveaways and fun characters handing out special prizes. Also in attendance were representatives from premier supplements bodybuilding.com
Jon Wright, Xercise4Less chief executive officer, said: “The north east provides us with fantastic expansion opportunities.
“The demand for affordable fitness in both Tyne and Wear and North Yorkshire has increased dramatically over the last few years which has enabled us to develop our portfolio across the region.
“We already have clubs in Stockton, Newcastle and Sunderland which have all been extremely well received and I have no doubt that North Shields will be just as successful.”
The new North Shields club boasts a number of fitness zones including cardio, free weights, combat and a ladies only area, plus a large fitness studio that will feature more than 40 free classes per week.
