A new pop-up shop is helping fledgling businesses find their feet on the high street.

The shop, in the former Connexions Centre in North Shields town centre, will help new businesses to get established.

The unit we have created has been designed to be eye catching for customers and ready for retailers to move straight in

The unit has space for up to four traders with below market rent and no lengthy contracts.

Paul Buie, head of business and economic development at North Tyneside Council, said: “Pop-up retail space provides a great entry point for start-ups, not only is it a cost-effective way to get a foot on to the high street but it also provides a great opportunity to work with other like-minded business owners.

“The unit we have created has been designed to be eye catching for customers and ready for retailers to move straight in.”

He added: “We are committed to supporting our local high streets and helping to breathe new life in to them by supporting both our existing traders but also helping others to take their first tentative steps in to retail.”

“Pop up shops are just one initiative the council is developing to encourage growth across our town centre, ensuring they remain a special and vibrant place, filled with a healthy mix of small, independents together with the national chains.”
